How do we do that?

Through assessment and individualised treatment, your therapist will work with you to achieve attainable clinical goals. This involves an integrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology and clinical techniques such as mobilisation and manipulation of joints, massage, electrotherapy and exercise rehabilitation. A number of the therapists are qualified to give acupuncture for pain relief. Osteopathy also includes cranial osteopathy and treatment for babies and children.

What should I expect?

At your first appointment you will have a comprehensive assessment. You may be asked to undress to your underwear to allow the therapist to see the affected areas and to test the joints and muscles thoroughly. It is advisable and acceptable to wear loose fitting shorts.

Following the assessment your therapist will discuss with you further treatment and/or investigations you may require.

Medical equipment

It is sometimes necessary to provide support to aid your treatment. This can be in the form of strapping as a temporary measure, or a corset, collar, knee-wrist-ankle brace or muscle supports. We can order these according to your requirements. We stock neck pillows, chair wedges, back cushions and writing slopes, as well as TENS machines and pain relieving gels and ointments.
