Practice Systems : What do you use? Posted: 2 Years ago myHealthPoints: 6
We are currentley looking at a practice system to enable us to manage clients as well as our calenders.

We have been looking at OpenEMR which is free and provides:

    Calanders
    Web access from anywhere
    Different users, Practitioner, Reception.
Allows storing of images for skin assesments.

We are going to have to get one of our developers to modify this product to suit our needs.

We would be interested to hear from other people what they use.

Thanks

Julie

Hi Julie,

in Hong Kong they have developed an open source Practice Management System named CMS3, which has partly been funded by the HK government. The system is in English (although supports multi-language).

The official website is at: http://cms3.isia.org.hk/portal/

We've put the project source up on sourceforge as well though. You can see some screencasts here: http://www.metahealthcare.com/hkma_cms3.php

Technology-wise it's based on: Java EE, Groovy/Grails, JavaScript, Ajax, MySql

Regards,
Mathias

Mathias, this is looking quite good and very usable.

We have done an initial assessment of it and this could be suitable for our clinic.

We would have to do a bit of work to make this suitable for the UK with the removal of the Chinese fields.

It would be nice if the calendar could be exported as iCal as this can then be imported into other systems like Google Calendar accessible from an iPhone. (Unless you have a motile version)

But great work with what you have at the moment.

I have heard some really good things about openemr. I think it's a great way to go and may end up saving lives.

We are also not looking at CMS3.0 which was funded by the Hong Kong government. This looks quite good and includes an appointment system.
